Tulampanga / Alum Cliffs

View over the Mersey River from Tulampanga lookout
Alum Cliffs trail follows a short, well-defined track through an area of historical and cultural significance. From the car park there is a short ascent to a plateau with a large sculpture (the three points on the sculpture represent the three significant paths aboriginal people would walk; from Western Bluff to Tulampanga and Quamby Bluff). Then through a gentle descent the track terminates at a viewing platform overlooking the Mersey River and spectacular Alum Cliffs Gorge. Tulampanga is the Pallittorre (local Aboriginal) name for the area. Time: 40 minutes return. Grade: 2: Suitable for most ages. The track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle uphill section or sections of occasional steps. Image: © 2020 Jade Austen. All rights Reserved.
